Description:
The Return
of Rafe MacKade--Ten years after disappearing from Antietam, Maryland, the bad
boy has returned. Cleaned up and successful now—and still dangerously
good-looking—Rafe MacKade sets the town on fire, and tongues wagging.
Lovely
newcomer Regan Jones is intrigued—what kind of man could cause this sort
of talk? She's just about to find out.
The Pride
of Jared MacKade--He was a man who stood for something, and never turned his
back on a fight. So when Jared MacKade's work as an attorney brought him up
against Savannah Morningstar, her rude behavior and strong defenses weren't
going to stop him.
Savannah
was the type of woman who defeated odds brutally stacked against her. And once
he got to know her, Jared was determined to be the man to stand beside her in
the fight.

My View on
this book:
Originally
written in 1995, the MacKade Brothers' series followed four brothers from the
battle ground fictional city of Antietam, Maryland. Over 100 years ago Antietam
was a famous battleground during the Civil War. I was so intrigued after
reading the first MacKade book that I actually looked up the information on the
battle ground. If you are interested in history and like ghosts The Return of
Rafe MacKade is a great book to check out. Rafe has come back to Antietam to
turn an old Civil War era home into a Inn. He enlists the help of, Regan, an
antique dealer, in making sure that all the furniture and decorations are all
within the Civil War period. Regan loves the idea of helping with the project
and can't help to be a little interested in the handsome Rafe.
Along the
way there are ghosts, a abusive husband of a friend and some cute kids. The
story is quick paced and fun.
Book two in
the series, The Pride of Jared MacKade also takes place at the same local.
Although, Jared has moved into the city where he is a lawyer he still spends a
lot of time with his three brothers back in Antietam. He helps on the family
farm and spends time at the local pool hall. Doing a favor for a friend he has
agrees to deliver a letter to Savannah, who just happens to be a neighbor of his
family's farm. Savannah isn't receptive to any news from her father who threw
her out after she became pregnant. She definitely doesn't like lawyers, and
especially not sheriff's like Jared's brother.
It takes a
while, but Jared works to push away Savannah's defenses. Along the way the
ghost story started in Rafe's story continues. This whole series is worth a
read if you haven't already done so. All four books are fast paced and although
the ghost story might be a matter of Nora's imagination the information about
the battle field is interesting.
