Connection: Wilder Brothers
waiting for this Jill Shalvis book to come out. Instant Temptation is the third
in Jill's Wilder Brothers series. I've read all three from the beginning and
while I liked the two previous stories, I believe this is my favorite of all.
One of the best parts of the story is she sets the scene in the California
Sierras, one of my favorite places in the world and lucky for me only a less
than three hour drive from my home. Jill writes with such detail, I can almost
picture some of my favorite places that I like to explore.
I was a
little unsure of where Jill was going to take T.J.'s story. There was someone
he loved in his past who died, but rather than dwelling on that part of the
story, the author attaches T.J. to Harley, a friend of the family who was
mentioned in the other books briefly.
T.J. share a past. The two grew up together, both experiencing hard times
during their childhood. One faithful night in their youth they sleep together,
but the problem is that Harley is the only one who remembers. Because of that
their once close relationship has become strained and T.J. has no idea why.
constantly leaving town. He runs the long-term guided adventure trips. He's
home now and is finally ready to ask Harley what happened to change their
friendship. He's always been attracted to her, but when he realizes her attraction
to him, it is no holds bared. The only problem is this relationship can only be
temporary. There is always another long term trip T. J. needs to take and
Harley is being offered a job far away from the California Sierras. Harley
isn't a causal affair kind of woman. T.J. is all about casual affairs. Is there
any hope for these two?
gives you a new insight into T.J. I didn't picture him as the ladies man in
previous books, but also he is described as one in this book, he doesn't really
act like one here either. Once he sets his sights on Harley he is determined to
have her. He's the strong alpha, head of his family and the mastermind behind
the family business. Harley is a strong willed prideful woman. She too is the
elder in her family, even though her hippy parents are still alive. She takes
care of her whole family, even when she barely has enough money to take care of
herself. A strong love story and hot sensual love scenes make up this novel.
is the perfect package of breathtaking adventure and raw sex appeal. Even
better, he's about to reconnect with the one woman he's never been able to
forget. . .
the landscape around Wishful, California, is exhilarating, untamed, and more than
a little dangerous. The same could be said for T.J. Wilder, who's invited
himself along on her trek to study a rare coyote.
career is riding on this trip, and she doesn't need a stubborn, incredibly sexy
distraction. But T.J. is a professional guide who knows when to stay back and
when to provide invaluable expertise-just like he's done since they were in
high school. And Harley, as usual, is torn between throttling him and giving in
to the raw attraction that's been smoldering all these years.
how proud and capable Harley is, but he's damned sure not letting her put
herself at risk when there are illegal hunters in the area. She needs him, with
the same soul-stirring urgency that he's always craved her. And here, in this
beautiful place days from civilization, he'll finally have a chance to prove
it-over and over again. . .

months, Dr. Emma Sinclair has been working in her father's clinic while he
recuperates from a heart attack. Ever since she was six year's old she has
lived in New York City, so moving to a small town like Wishful, California is
culture shock for Emma. She just doesn't feel like she fits into the small town
community and can't wait to get back to the big city and resume her life as an
Wilder, one of the three Wilder brothers who runs Wilder Adventures in Wishful,
is the glue that keeps his family together. He runs Wilder Adventures, keeping
the paperwork filled out and the schedule going, while also taking clients on
expeditions, helping the local foster kids and everything else that is good. At
first Emma thinks Stone is just an accident-prone ski bum who is deathly afraid
of needles, but she learns quickly there is more to the man.
matter because as soon as her father is up to going back to work she's going to
blow this popsicle stand and she doesn't need the likes of Stone Wilder
complicating her life. It's just too bad that the local bad-boy is just too
hard to resist.
Shalvis has a great sense of human and it plays well in her books. Although I
found a couple of scenes in the book pretty clichˇ as romance books go, the
story we well put together, the plot endearing and romantic. Her sex scene
sizzle throughout the pages of the book. The verbiage between the hero and
heroine is priceless throughout most of the book. Can't wait to read Wilder
brother's T.J.'s story.
California, is 3000 miles from Dr. Emma Sinclair's last job in a New York City
ER. It may as well be another galaxy. Here, running her father's clinic for a
summer, Emma treats bee stings, stomach flu, and the occasional pet cat. Plus,
she has to contend with patients like Stone Wilder: gorgeous, laid-back, and
irritating beyond belief. The man laughs at her. A lot. And Emma loathes him.
All except that tiny part of her that wants to throw him on her examining table
and break every doctor-patient rule in the book.
tries to help Emma learn to loosen up a bit, he pictures white-water rafting or
scenic mountain hikes. Not a mind-blowing affair that shakes them both to the
core. Emma's sure she has no place in a town like Wishful, but Stone knows
different. Emma belongs here - in this town, in his life. It is convincing that
this strong-minded, stubborn, sexy woman of that fact will be a challenge no
Wilder man could resist.
Katie Kramer is a quintessential good girl - working hard, recycling
diligently, all the while trying to ignore the feeling that she doesn't fit in
anywhere. That's all she wants. Well, that - and amazing sex, and the kind of
daredevil escapade she can look back on when she's crunching numbers in a dusty
cubicle. Which explains why she just took a job in Wishful, California, working
for Wilder Adventures and Expeditions. Waking up to find a magnificently built
stranger towering over her bed - that part defies explanation. . .
wandering the planet for months following a life-changing accident, Cameron
Wilder has come back to the only home he knows. Under other circumstances, he
might be thrilled to find a gorgeous woman sleeping in his cabin, but now,
while he'll risk his body taking clients on adrenaline-drenched excursions, his
heart is off limits. Still, Katie's killer smile triggers something deep in his
gut. . .among other places. Showing her how exhilarating it can be to stop
balancing her life as if it was a check book is the biggest rush he's ever felt
- and an adventure Katie's wishing would never end. . .
This is the first Jill Shalvis book that I've read and I was really impressed.
Instant Attraction is a nice romantic read that brings its characters to life
with witty commentary and realistic relationships. This is the first of three
books featuring the Wilder brothers. While this is the youngest brother's,
Cam's story, readers get a chance to learn about the rest of the clan. As a
side story we meet Cam's aunt and her husband who are going through troubles of
their own. Their story really adds a lot to book.
part of the story to me is the heroine Katie. Her character is well written and
believable. She brings this story to life as she tries to come to terms with
her life after being the only survivor when a bridge collapses. Adding her
character to Cam's and it makes for a great read.
